Bob Siemsen, Immediate Past President

Robert Siemsen

Immediate Past President Robert Siemsen began his career in the plumbing industry more than 40 years ago, spending the first 18 years working as a plumber before beginning work as an inspector and ascending to his current position as chief plumbing inspector for the City of Lincoln, Neb.

Siemsen received his certification as a plumbing inspector with IAPMO in 1990. He volunteered as a member of the Amalgamation Committee in 1996, a committee formed to combine the ANSI A-40, National Standard Plumbing Code (NSPC), and the Uniform Plumbing Code into one document. Siemsen serves on the board of directors with the state of Nebraska Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC). As an instructor for Local 464, he supports youth coming into the industry. Appointed to the NSPC’s Code Study Committee in 1989, Siemsen served on that committee for six years.

At IAPMO, Siemsen chaired both the Product Certification Committee and the Standards Review Committee and continues his work with those committees. He is an active member of the Industry Advisory Forum and the MH/RV Committee. He served two years as secretary of the board of directors, four years as a board member serving the north region and the past two as vice president. In September 2000, Siemsen was awarded the Government Person of the Year award at IAPMO’s conference in Anchorage.

An avid football fan, Siemsen attends University of Nebraska games whenever he can. On a more personal note, Siemsen and his wife, Laura, have been married for 37 years. They have a son, Matt, daughter-in-law, Steph, and a daughter, Kacy, and son-in-law Mike. The Siemsens are the proud grandparents of Garrett, born in August 2003, Brett, born in December 2004, and John, born April 2007. Kacy and Mike are expecting their second child, Seimsen’s fourth grandchild, in May 2009.
