Newly elected President Dan Daniels hails from Colorado and has spent his plumbing career in and around the Pueblo area.
He began as an apprentice with Local 20 more than 30 years ago. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Daniels took on a variety of plumbing jobs, gaining vast experience and a solid understanding of the diverse demands of the field. During this time, he earned his Colorado journeyman plumber’s license and went on to obtain his Colorado master plumber’s license.
In 1991, Daniels was offered an inspector’s position with the city of Pueblo’s Regional Building Department. His supervisors recognized the quality of his work and made him the chief plumbing inspector for the city and county in 1999.
A member of UA Local 20 for many years, Daniels is also a member of the American Backflow Prevention Association and the American Water Works Association. He has served as chairman of both IAPMO’s UPC Workshop Committee and IAPMO’s Career Services Committee and serves on the Audit Committee, Bylaws Committee, Executive Committee and R&T Board of Directors.
“IAPMO’s collective efforts have helped the association remain successful as a corporation in a time of economic distress, but more importantly to continue providing safe drinking water and sanitation to more than half of the world’s population,” Daniels said. “As president, I promise I’ll further these efforts as we work toward a renewed strategy in 2011 and beyond.”
Daniels and his wife, Sharon, have three grown children, – Lona, Kenny and Tyler, – and six grandchildren (with a seventh on the way). In his spare time, he enjoys working out, fine tuning his “below average” golf game and serving as a high school and college football official.
