Ed Avila is Senior Mechanical Inspector for the City of San Diego and is a veteran of 45 years in the industry. He has worked for the City of San Diego for 14 years, the last seven spent in his current post.

An IAPMO member for 12 years, Avila is Chairman of the San Diego City Chapter.

In addition to his work on behalf of IAPMO, Avila also serves a UA Apprenticeship Program Instructor, a Code Certification Instructor and teaches within the San Diego Unified School District¹s Extended Studies program.

Avila also maintains memberships with UA Local 230 and the Municipal Employees Association. He has been a UA member for 45 years.

Avila and his wife, Teresa, have been married 41 years and have two sons, Eric, a professor at UCLA, and Christopher, a finance manager, and two grandsons. In his spare time, Avila enjoys reading and gardening.
