James Imprescia, Northern District Director
North Region District Director James Imprescia brings 45 years experience in the trades to his new post on the IAPMO Board of Directors. The New England native is Plumbing and Gas Inspector for the city of Leominster, Mass., and chairman of the New England Plumbing, Gas and Mechanical Inspectors Association Scholarship Program.
A graduate of the UA’s 5-year teacher training at Purdue University and a Massachusetts certified vocational teacher in plumbing, Imprescia has been an instructor for journeyman and master plumber license prep classes since 1982. He is also an instructor of IAPMO’s continuing education for Massachusetts licensed plumbers and gasfitters.
Imprescia holds Massachusetts master licenses in plumbing, gasfitting, pipefitting and sheet metal and journeyman licenses in plumbing and sprinkler fitting. He also holds a New Hampshire master plumbers license.
A 45-year member of the UA, Imprescia is a past president of UA Local 92 in Fitchburg, Mass., (1981-93), UA Local 4 in Worcester, Mass., (1997-2006) and the New England Plumbing, Gas and Mechanical Inspectors (1999-2001), as well as exalted ruler of the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks for two terms (2009-2010, 2010-2011).
Imprescia is a trustee for UA Local 4’s Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
“I would sincerely want to thank the officers and members of IAPMO, and especially (fellow board member) Gary Hamilton and (IAPMO field services representative) Gordon MacEwan, for this opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for this organization,” Imprescia said.
Outside of work, Imprescia is an avid runner who has competed in — and completed — the Boston Marathon numerous times, as well as Mt. Washington Road Race in New Hampshire, which climbs the highest peak in the northeastern United States.
