IAPMO R&T and Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) hosted the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as it discusses certification of plumbing products under DOE regulations, manufacturer compliance, and DOE's enforcement program. This meeting was an opportunity for manufacturers, importers, and product rating organizations to ask DOE questions about these requirements and learn about new requirements that will become effective next month.
The webinar was held on June 24. Moderated by IAPMO Director of Special Programs Pete DeMarco, “Department of Energy’s FINAL RULE for the Energy Conservation Program (10 CFR 429, 430, 431)” explains the recently announced rulemaking undertaken by the DOE and the associated testing and reporting requirements that will become effective on July 5 for consumer plumbing products and pre-rinse spray valves.
“Manufacturers of the applicable products found the webinar a valuable resource in understanding the new requirements and to ensure that they are compliant by the July 5 deadline,” DeMarco said.
Representatives from the DOE fielded questions from the webinar participants. In addition, written questions and comments from stakeholders were addressed during the webinar.
