Co-convened by IAPMO and World Plumbing Council
May 11-12, 2010
DoubleTree - Ontario Airport
222 N. Vineyard Ave.
Ontario, CA 91764
What is it?
This two-day event will provide participants with an opportunity to view presentations and engage in timely discussions on how the water utility, manufacturing, engineering, and trade industries have found solutions through emerging technologies in the water efficiency, plumbing and mechanical industries.
This event is a follow-up to the overwhelmingly successful inaugural Emerging Technologies Symposium that was held in Chicago in August 2008 and is designed to provide a portal for IAPMO’s partners to display and demonstrate their innovative solutions to water and efficiency related needs and regulatory developments.
The first International Emerging Technology Symposium, co-convened with the World Plumbing Council, August 2008 in Chicago, surpassed expectations both in attendance and response, prompting IAPMO to enthusiastically schedule this follow up.
Presentations and panels will discuss emerging trends, practices and products.
IAPMO is seeking sponsors, presenters and panelists to participate in the symposium; especially experts in the following fields:
• Water Quality, Sanitation and Health
• Water and Energy Efficiency
• Water Reuse
• Water and Embedded Energy
• Solar, Geothermal and Other Renewable Energies
• New Technologies in Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) Discharge Mitigation
• Other topics suggested by participants
"This symposium represents an exciting opportunity to highlight how our industry creates and adapts to emerging technologies through the use of a vital emerging technology," said IAPMO Executive Director GP Russ Chaney. "The event promises to be tremendously informative, as we trust a great many unique organizations will seize the opportunity by providing their most highly-qualified experts as presenters and panelists."
Goals of the Emerging Technology Symposium
• Provide outstanding networking opportunities with experts in the fields of water and energy efficiency
• Expose participants to emerging products and practices.
• Exchange views on new trends in the industry.
• Share ideas and approaches on bringing emerging technologies to market.
• Discuss innovative green plumbing and mechanical concepts.
• Provide a vision for a more efficient future for plumbing and mechanical systems.

ACEEE Hot Water Forum
In the interest of broadening our scope and reach, this year the Emerging Technology Symposium will be held immediately before the Hot Water Forum, convened by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). The Hot Water Forum is a two day conference taking place on May 12-14, 2010 at the Double Tree Hotel Ontario Airport.
The last year has seen major developments for hot water efficiency. DOE launched the ENERGY STAR water heating program, ARRA funding enhanced the reach of efficiency programs, and new federal efficiency standards are to be announced this Spring. Water use is drawing increased attention, and the President is promoting energy efficiency. At this critical time, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) is pleased to announce the 2010 Forum on Water Heating, Distribution, and Use Efficiency, to be held at the Doubletree Hotel Ontario Airport in Ontario, California, from Wednesday evening, May 12 - Friday afternoon, May 14. This event will bring together manufacturers; water, gas, and electric utilities; government and other program and policy specialists; and other industry representatives to learn from each other and explore the potential of increasing efficiency of hot water generation, distribution, and use (fixtures and appliances), with special emphasis on the ENERGY STAR program, solar water heating, multifamily and commercial applications, and water efficiency.
As in 2009, the program will feature short, results-oriented talks, supplemented by table-top displays and presentations in the principal networking area. For more information about the Hot Water Forum visit the conference website.
