Commonwealth of Massachusetts Continuing Education for Licensed Plumbers and Gasfitters

NOTICE: July 1, 2018, the State Fire Marshal adopts provisions from the 2018 revised 527 CMR 1.00 Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Safety Code, including "Chapter 41,..Hot Works."  Completion of Session #10 continuing education for plumbers and gasfitters or Session #30 for Inspectors, confirms you are in compliance with the regulation.  Section 41.4 (1) Hot Work Operation Conducted By Persons Licensed By Other Jurisdictions, explains a hot work permit is not required by licensed plumbers and gasfitters performing licensed and permitted work under their specialized code. Although permitting with the fire department is not required for plumbers/gasfitters, they must have obtained training for hot works safety.  The training approved by the Plumbing Board for Session #10 and Session #30 (for Inspectors) meets the fire regulations, so a current license expiring in 2020 is evidence that you have completed the Hot Works safety training.
