Following on the heels of a successful 2017 conference, which exceeded expectations for attendance by a pleasantly substantial margin, I am excited to extend this invitation to IAPMO’s 89th annual Education and Business Conference in historical Philadelphia, Sept. 30-Oct. 4.

My anticipation for this year’s event is heightened by some unique circumstances, both personal and association wide.

First of all, of special interest to all of our members, industry partners, and other stakeholders is the accelerated timeline for development of the 2021 Uniform Codes. Last July, the IAPMO board of directors announced the association’s American National Standards Institute-accredited three-year code development process would start a year earlier for the upcoming cycle. Therefore, the initial Call for Proposals was made in October and we will hold the Assembly Consideration Session during this year’s conference. By changing the timeline in this manner, we will be able to publish the 2021 Uniform Codes in the first quarter of 2020, which we believe will prove extremely beneficial to states, counties, and cities seeking to adopt them. Don’t miss out of your opportunity to play a role in the process!

From a personal standpoint, as I conclude my term as this wonderful association’s president I am filled with a range of emotions. I am proud of the hard work and dedication our board has displayed, excited about the continued growth that is sure to come, and confident our incoming leadership will continue to work cohesively with staff to serve our membership. The best part of concluding my time as president is the comfort in knowing that every year around the last week in September I will still get to spend a week with great friends and the top professionals in our industry, networking, learning, and experiencing all the greatness that is IAPMO. Whether you’re the president or a first-year apprentice IAPMO member, attending conference is an amazing experience that will enrich your life personally and professionally.

Please join us in the City of Brotherly Love, home of the Super Bowl champion Eagles, where we will continue to provide excellent educational opportunities, opportunities to network with other industry professionals, and build lifelong friendships. I hope to see you there!

The Philadelphia 201 Hotel (formerly named Sheraton Downtown) has limited room availability. It is currently sold out for Saturday, September 29. Rooms are still available for the rest of conference week. To make a reservation please contact Philadelphia 201 Hotel directly at 1-215- 448-2000 .  Ask for the IAPMO rate.

The Expo area will be in the foyer outside the meetings rooms. Attendees are welcome to interact with the exhibitors before and during breaks in the business and education sessions.
