As a member-based association, Committees are the engines which make IAPMO a great organization and are the means by which the organization creates consensus-based codes, support products and programs to facilitate safe and sanitary plumbing systems throughout the world.
These committees are composed of dedicated volunteers who bring their extensive skills and knowledge to the work of the association so others can benefit. Typically, these volunteers are members of IAPMO who share in the mission and goals of the Uniform Codes.
The Executive Committee transacts the interim business of the Association between meetings of the Board of Directors.
The Executive Committee consists of the IAPMO President, Vice President, Immediate Past President and three members of the Board of Directors. This Committee has the authority to transact the business of the association between meetings of the Board of Directors. Each member of the Executive Committee serves a one-year term.

Standing Committees include the Audit, Bylaws and Membership Committees..
The IAPMO Bylaws stipulate that there be Audit, Bylaws, and Membership committees, and other committees as may be necessary for the success of the organization. The members of these committees are current Board members appointed by the President and approved by the Board of Directors.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is responsible for reviewing the financial transactions of the association and reporting to the membership at the Annual Meeting. The committee is composed of the Chairperson, one Board member from each of the three Association Districts, and one Board member at large. The terms of these members coincides with the term of the President.
Bylaws Committee
It is the task and responsibility of the Bylaws Committee to review all proposals for amendments to the IAPMO Bylaws and present those amendments to the Board of Directors and IAPMO membership. The committee consists of a Chairman and four members appointed from the Voting membership.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for selecting and securing new members for the Association. This task is typically done in conjunction with staff efforts to recruit new IAPMO members. The committee consists of a Chairman and four members appointed from the Voting membership.
These committees are central to the development of the Uniform Codes in accordance with the ANSI process. IAPMO membership is not a prerequisite for applying to these committees.
As defined by the Regulations Governing Committee Projects and the Regulations Governing Consensus Development of the USHGC and USPSHTC, the Technical Committee (TC) and the Technical Correlating Committee (TCC) are the consensus body responsible for the development and revision of any document or documents emanating from a Technical Committee Project (the Uniform Codes). All persons wishing to participate on a TC or TCC must complete an application for Technical Committee Membership including a resume of qualifications. Applications for the technical committees are acted on in accordance with the consensus procedures. Once an application (and resume) has been received by IAPMO, it is forwarded to the Standards Council Secretary for consideration by the Standards Council.
An important function of the Standards Council and Executive Committee is to maintain a balance of interest classifications on the TC and TCC.

Once appointed to the TC or TCC, each member is subject to annual review and reappointment. It is the responsibility of each member to participate and act in accordance with the consensus procedures.
The rosters (linked below) are divided into three columns: Name, Representation, and Classification. Committee members are arranged by classification for ease of identification.

Plumbing Technical Committee:
The Plumbing Technical Committee (TC) is the consensus body responsible for the development and revision of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).
Mechanical Technical Committee:
The Mechanical Technical Committee (TC) is the consensus body responsible for the development and revision of the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC).
Technical Correlating Committee:
The Technical Correlating Committee (TCC) is the consensus body responsible for resolving conflicts, achieving correlation among the recommendations of the technical committees, and correcting errors and omissions.
Solar Hydronics & Geothermal Committee:
The Solar Hydronics & Geothermal Technical Committee (TC) is the consensus body responsible for the development and revision of the Uniform Solar Hydronics Geothermal Code (USHGC).
Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Committee:
The Swimming Pool, Spa, and Hot Tub Committee (TC) is the consensus body responsible for the development and revision of the Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa, and Hot Tub Code (USPSHTC).

Standards Development Committees include the Standards Review Committee, IAPMO Plumbing Standards Committee, Building Standards Committee, Solar Standards Committee, National Adoption Committee, ASSE Product Standards Committee and ASSE Professional Qualifications Standards Committee.
The Committee shall have primary responsibility of this standard to provide minimum requirements to optimize water use practices attributed to the built environment while maintaining protection of the public health, safety, and welfare.

Special committees provide support and education for the Uniform Codes, are the forum for development of support products for those codes and assist staff by providing technical resources. Included in this category are committees responsible for setting the policies and strategic direction of several IAPMO subsidiary organizations which provide invaluable support to IAPMO and industry.
UPC Answers & Analysis Committee
The UPC Answers and Analysis Committee is responsible for responding to technical questions on the provisions of the Uniform Plumbing Code as applied to specific situations. Questions may be directed to the committee through the online request for informal clarification. This committee requires some level of familiarity with MS Word as well as general computer literacy. This committee meets in person once annually.

The UMC Answers and Analysis Committee is responsible for responding to technical questions on the provisions of the Uniform Mechanical Code as applied to specific situations. Questions may be directed to the committee through the online request for informal clarification. This committee requires some level of familiarity with MS Word as well as general computer literacy. This committee meets in person once annually.
Education & Training Committee
This committee plays an important role in helping IAPMO respond to the career growth needs of its members by developing strategies for activities and initiatives that will facilitate members’ professional development and career advancement. Committee members make recommendations regarding new and innovative seminars, workshops, institutes, web-based learning, audio conferences, instructional materials, annual conferences and other educational events. This committee requires some level of familiarity with PowerPoint or Word as well as general computer literacy. This committee meets 1 to 2 times during the year, either in person and/or via teleconference.
IAPMO Conference Education Program Planning Subcommittee
Each year, the education program at IAPMO’s Annual Education and Business Conference is one of the focal points and highlights of the event. This subcommittee assists with the development of the conference education program in order to ensure that the sessions provided are timely, relevant, and high quality. The members of this subcommittee will assist IAPMO staff with identifying topics which are trending and important to the plumbing and mechanical industries as well as identifying and helping to secure potential presenters and speakers. These members may also be called upon to potentially assist in the development of education sessions and serve as a presenter if interested.
Professional Testing Subcommittee
IAPMO believes that the professionals that service our industry are fully competent to do their jobs in a way that ensures the health and safety of the public. A key component of that is professional certification and license testing. This subcommittee plays an important role by assisting in the development, quality control, and maintenance of IAPMO’s certification and license testing exams. Committee members will assist in writing exam questions, examining exam challenges, verifying and developing exam outlines, and identifying areas in new code editions that need to be addressed in IAPMO’s various exams.
Publication Development Committee
This committee plays an important role in helping IAPMO respond to the needs of its members for support products to assist them in the enforcement of the Uniform codes, primarily the UPC and UMC Study Guides and the Illustrated Training Manuals for the UPC and UMC. The committee evaluates significant code changes occurring in each code edition and provides commentary in the ITMs for better understanding how to apply the technical requirements of the code. The committee also includes the significant code changes as study guide questions. This committee requires some level of familiarity with MS Word as well as general computer literacy. This committee meets 2 to 3 times during the year, either in person and/or via teleconference.
Plumbing Code Workshop Committee
This Committee develops the program for the Plumbing Code Workshop conducted as a component of the educational sessions at the IAPMO Annual Conference. Committee members work throughout the year to craft the problems and solutions presented to participants during the training program. The Committee Chairman facilitates the workshop at the Conference. This committee requires some level of familiarity with PowerPoint or Word as well as general computer literacy. This committee meets 1 to 2 times during the year, either in person and/or via teleconference.

This Committee develops the program for the Mechanical Code Workshop conducted as a component of the educational sessions at the IAPMO Annual Conference. Committee members work throughout the year to craft the problems and solutions presented to participants during the training program. Product Certification Committee
The Product Certification Committee reviews applications for product certification and makes the certification decision based test reports and supporting data provided by the applicant along with the recommendation of the Product Review Engineer. The committee considers not only the applicable product standard, but also relevant provisions of the applicable code. This committee meets 6 times per year in person. Due to the nature of the work performed by this committee, those employed in the manufacturing field may pose a conflict of interest.
Standards Review Committee
The Standards Review Committee reviews and adopts all standards for use in product certification. The committee also works with the Standards Department to develop and approve IGCs (IAPMO Guide Criteria), which provide a path for certification of innovative products in the market for which no industry standard exists. This committee meets 6 times per year in person. Due to the nature of the work performed by this committee, those employed in the manufacturing field may pose a conflict of interest.
UES - Evaluation Service Committee
The UES - Evaluation Service Committee (ESC) oversees the acceptance of IAPMO UES Evaluation Criteria (EC). New UES EC's go through a technical development process, followed by a public review. Comments are then reviewed for dispositioned by the Evaluation Service Committee (ESC). The ESC meets either in person or by teleconference between 1 and 12 times a year as needed, but typically we convene quarterly. The qualifications for membership on the ESC are either 5 years' experience in inspections or holding the position of Chief Building Official.

The IAPMO Conference Planning and Special Projects Committee (CPSPC) works hard behind the scenes every year to make our annual conference a success. As spouses and partners of IAPMO board members, each CPSPC member plays an integral part in welcoming conference attendees as well as planning and hosting many of the week’s events and outings.
