RPA, Hydronics Industry Alliance Partner with Egg Geothermal to Offer Webinar Series

The Radiant Professionals Alliance (RPA) and the Hydronics Industry Alliance (HIA-C) are partnering with Egg Geothermal to host a series of eight monthly webinars focused on the integration of air-source and ground-source heat pumps into buildings, the first of many courses for the newly formed Hydronic University.

The first module, “Geothermal System Design Overview,” is scheduled for June 22. The course will review basic heat pump operation, the Carnot refrigeration cycle, energy efficiency ratings for HVAC, and geothermal exchanger principles of thermal exchange. The webinar will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. PDT.

The speakers will include Egg Systems founder Jay Egg, a certified geothermal designer, mechanical professional, author, speaker and trainer, and Kristy Egg, R.N., B.S.P.H., a registered nurse, public health and epidemiology professional and author with a keen interest in environmental, community and public health programs.

“With the necessity to decarbonize our buildings comes the opportunity to competently integrate clean heating and cooling technologies,” Jay Egg said. “Electric heat pumps are a great solution to building decarbonization, and hydronic (water-based) systems remain the clear choice for distribution of heating and cooling energy in our homes, buildings and communities. We are delighted to share more than three decades of geothermal heat pump contracting and engineering efforts with workforce professionals from every sector.”

Subsequent modules will focus on variations of earth loop systems (July 20); choosing the right geothermal system type (Aug. 24); the installation of ground-source heat pump systems (Sept. 21); evaluating the benefits of geothermal systems (Oct. 19); an inspector’s checklist for ground-source heat pumps (Nov. 23); an advanced review of geothermal systems with case studies (Jan. 18, 2022); and a course review (Feb. 22, 2022).

“The Radiant Professionals Alliance and the Hydronics Industry Alliance are dedicated to providing the most up-to-date, cutting-edge tools available to designers and contractors working in the mechanical climate control industry,” said Sean Cleary, vice president of Industry Programs and BPI Operations. “Specifying, designing, installing, and maintaining the most efficient systems possible is a goal we should all embrace. It is good for the contractor, the end user, and just as importantly, for the environment. By working with one of the leading industry experts on these systems, Mr. Jay Egg, these first eight seminars will set the stage for what promises to be a continuous effort to provide quality training on a range of subjects and systems related to all types of heating and cooling technology at the Hydronic University.”

Each module is $140 for RPA and International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) members and $170 for non-members.
