Under One Umbrella

Each year, the product certification department receives more and more requests to certify products to additional non-ASSE standards, such as NSF 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects, and NSF 372: Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content. Some of our smaller suppliers want more certifications, but don’t want to spend additional time and money by going to a second certification body. Other customers only want one contact and one audit to reduce the time and money associated with multiple certification bodies. Finally, there is also a demand for dual listings – a product certified to a standard, such as NSF 61, by multiple certification agencies.

We are happy to announce that plumbing manufactures can now consolidate all of their certifications to multiple industry standards under one umbrella – ASSE International.

Historically, ASSE International has only provided certification to its own standards. However, ASSE International is now accredited by both the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to certify products to NSF 61, NSF 372, and a variety of other standards from across the industry, including those from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Water Works Association (AWWA), CSA Group, and NSF International.

There are several advantages of consolidating certification with ASSE:

ASSE audits cover all certified products – no downtime from extra audits

One point of contact for your products’ certifications – your ever-changing portfolio can be serviced by one call

Associate your product with the excellent reputation of ASSE International and the ASSE Seal in the market

Work with a certification partner who understands the importance of speed to market

ASSE certified products are tested by qualified laboratories to strict performance requirements of product standards and certified in a manner that is impartial, balanced, informed, and rigorous. After 112 years of advocating for standardized plumbing practices and more than 50 years of certifying products, the ASSE Seal is proudly displayed on thousands of devices and assemblies throughout North America.

Manufacturers who have been thinking about obtaining NSF 61 or NSF 372 certification for the first time should act now. With ASSE’s competitive per model family pricing structure and no increase in audit cost for new standards, additional certifications can be very affordable. Our certification process also allows for quick and hassle-free transfers from most certification bodies. Transfers and accelerated certifications can be completed in seven days or less.

When plumbing system designs and codes require products that are in compliance with ASSE, NSF, CSA, or other standards, code officials, designers, specifiers, contractors, and inspectors need verification. To make life simple for all users, plumbing component manufacturers choose ASSE’s product certification … verification is easily spelled out on the product with the trusted ASSE Seal.

Only those products that have been tested by an independent ASSE-accredited testing laboratory, have been reviewed by ASSE, and have been found to be in compliance with the appropriate product standards can display the ASSE Seal.
