IAPMO Standards Council Issues TIA UMC (003-24)
The IAPMO Standards Council on Nov. 4 issued a tentative interim amendment (TIA) to the 2024 edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®).
Ontario, Calif.—IAPMO® is seeking applicants to serve as technical experts on the Water Efficiency and Sanitation Standard (WE-Stand) task groups.
The WE-Stand Technical Committee is seeking special subject experts to join the following task groups:
Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting, provide their perspective on the code, and assist in drafting recommendations for action by the WE-Stand Technical Committee. Applicants are not required to be members of the WE-Stand Technical Committee.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 6.
Developed and subsequently republished at the conclusion of each three-year code cycle, the WEStand is designed to provide progressive codified requirements to optimize water use practices attributed to the built environment while maintaining protection of the public health, safety, and welfare.

IAPMO R&T, North America’s premier plumbing, water systems, and mechanical product certification agency, is now licensed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to certify point-of-use reverse osmosis (RO) systems to earn the WaterSense® label.
The Castle Rock, Colorado, town council has approved the adoption of IAPMO’s Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) Appendix M — the Water Demand Calculator® — as an alternative methodology for sizing water pipes in single- and multifamily buildings. The Castle Rock Town Code has been amended to require the use of the Water Demand Calculator for sizing water service lines and internal plumbing supply lines.
