IAPMO’s National Personnel Certification Program for Inspectors, Plans Examiners and Code Administrators is a nationally recognized, comprehensive testing and certification program that assesses the knowledge of construction codes as an indicator of competence and professionalism.
It provides a valid and reliable professional program of testing that represents all the occupations and technical disciplines in the code administration profession. The program sets the minimum level of required knowledge for individuals working in the profession and commits them to continuous self development through its certification renewal program.
IAPMO's program meets the needs of Governmental jurisdictions and agencies who desire an examination and personnel certification program based on codes to determine the knowledge and capability of code administration personnel, and; Individuals who choose to provide evidence of their code knowledge for reasons such as prospective employment or advancement in a current position
IAPMO partners with two testing organizations:
NITC
National Inspection Testing Certification (NITC) has been partnering with IAPMO as its testing provider for over 30 years. NITC is a third-party provider of certification services to the Piping Industry. NITC is ISO 9001:2008 certified and offers a large number of personnel certifications that include but are not limited to Journey and Mastery Levels, Medical Gas, IAPMO Voluntary Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector, and assorted City, County and State Government requirements.

NCPCCI
The National Certification Program for Construction Code Inspectors (NCPCCI) exams have been developed by a national model code organization, national code enforcement organization, and representatives of state and municipal code enforcement jurisdictions in collaboration with Prometric Inc. (Prometric). These groups joined together to establish a testing program that provides nationally recognized evidence of competence and professionalism in construction code knowledge.
NCPCCI's examinations are widely used across the country.
