In essence, every material in contact with water from the supply line including valves, piping and faucets is covered.

NSF/ANSI Standard 61 addresses the crucial aspect of drinking water system components; whether contaminants may migrate from the product/material into the drinking water and if so are the concentrations above acceptable levels in finished water. Lead Content Testing is a part of NSF/ANSI 61 but many or jurisdictions have different requirements.
